Immense CAV4 project now live

April 1st, 2019

We are delighted to announce that the CAV4 project, of which Immense is a part of, is now live!

The project is a £15 million UK government-backed programme, which is led by Addison Lee and will launch autonomous vehicle (AV) services in London by 2021.

This landmark project brings together the UK’s largest scale private hire operator (Addison Lee Group), leading autonomous technology provider, Oxbotica, world-class cyber security provider, Nominet, simulation experts, Immense Simulations, and smart mobility experts, DG Cities. The consortium, supported by Innovate UK, will invest in the design, build and trial of an on-demand, CAV-enabled ride-sharing service in the Royal Borough of Greenwich.

The consortium will roll out four AV pilots using 15 autonomous vehicles. Designed to complement existing public transport, the service will be app-based, on demand and based on ride-sharing. The vehicles will be low-emission, designed with the pedestrian in mind and priced to generate demand without impacting other public transport services.

“This is an exciting opportunity for Immense: collaborating with a strong consortium of partners to create an entirely new solution to help cities tackle the ever-increasing issues of congestion, emissions and accessibility. The project will demonstrate the huge benefits of innovation that is being unlocked by modern intelligent mobility but most importantly improving the quality of life for those living, working and travelling in cities around the world”
