Immense are proud to announce that we are part of a world-class consortium that have won funding from the Centre for Connected and Autonomous Vehicles (CCAV) and Meridian’s £100m infrastructure programme delivered through Innovate UK.
Immense have been selected as an innovation partner for the Connected Vehicle Data Exchange (ConVEX) that received Meridian 2 funding. Led by Bosch, this project looks to accelerate the development of CAVs by aggregating data from a diverse range of sources and share this data via a commercial exchange platform - a crucial step to enabling CAV deployment at scale. The project helps to position the UK as a leader in CAV R&D and accelerate the benefits including improved safety, easier access to mobility and more efficient transport.
Business Secretary Greg Clark said:
"Self-driving cars will revolutionise the way we move goods and people around the UK. These Industrial Strategy projects and investments are exciting examples of our long-term plan in action - ensuring we build on our strengths to reap the rewards as we accelerate towards our ambition to have autonomous vehicles on UK roads by 2021.
Autonomous vehicles and their technology will not only revolutionise how we travel, it will open up and improve transport services for those who struggle to access both private and public transport.
The UK is building on its automotive heritage and strengths to develop the new vehicles and technologies and from 2021 the public will get to experience the future for themselves."
Immense were also granted funding as part of the CAV4 project in the Addison Lee led consortium. Find out more about the project here.
